What Is ATP 360®?

ATP 360® is a practitioner-only mitochondrial formula from Researched Nutritionals, a US brand that supplies exclusively to healthcare professionals. It combines phospholipids, electron transport chain nutrients, Krebs cycle cofactors, membrane-phase antioxidants and biogenesis nutrients into a single daily serve of three capsules.

It is one of the few mitochondrial formulas evaluated as a stand-alone intervention in peer-reviewed published human research — an eight-week study in Alternative Therapies in Health and Medicine (Hamilton & Jensen, 2021) in adults with long-standing fatigue, which reported improvements in energy, mental function and sleep quality alongside changes in inflammatory cytokine markers.

How Your Cells Actually Make Energy — The Electron Transport Chain

Almost all of your ATP is made at one place: the inner mitochondrial membrane.

Food is broken down to electrons, which are carried by NADH and FADH₂ to a series of protein complexes embedded in that membrane. As electrons pass down the chain, the complexes pump protons out into the intermembrane space. This builds up an electrochemical gradient — a charge difference across the membrane, essentially a battery. ATP synthase then lets those protons flow back through, and uses the force of that flow to bolt a phosphate onto ADP. That is ATP.

Here is the part that matters clinically: the whole system depends on the membrane holding its charge. The inner membrane is a phospholipid bilayer, folded into cristae to maximise surface area. If those phospholipids are damaged — by oxidative stress, chronic inflammation, illness, medication load, or simply decades of normal metabolism — the membrane starts to leak protons. The gradient bleeds away. And when the gradient falls, ATP output falls with it, even if every cofactor and every gram of fuel is present in abundance.

That is why supplying more raw materials to a leaking membrane produces so little. The structure has to hold before the chemistry can work.

Why CoQ10 On Its Own Often Disappoints

CoQ10 is the nutrient most people reach for first, and it is genuinely essential — it is the mobile carrier that ferries electrons from Complex I and II across to Complex III. But it is one component of a chain, and a chain has other links.

Handing a cell CoQ10 while the membrane leaks, the Krebs cycle is short of cofactors, the antioxidant buffer is depleted, and mitochondrial numbers are falling is a bit like fitting a new spark plug to an engine with no oil. It is not that the spark plug is wrong. It is that it was never the limiting step.

ATP 360® is built to address five processes at once — membrane integrity, electron transport, the Krebs cycle, ATP production itself, and the making of new mitochondria — because in a fatigued system, several of them are usually compromised together.

The Five Blends — And What Each One Is Doing

RN Lipid Concentrate™ (400 mg) — rebuilding the membrane. The largest component of the formula, and deliberately so. Phosphatidylcholine, phosphatidylethanolamine, phosphatidylinositol and phytoglycolipids are the same phospholipid species the inner mitochondrial membrane is constructed from. Phosphatidylethanolamine in particular is a cone-shaped lipid that drives the tight curvature of cristae folds — the architecture that gives the membrane its enormous working surface. Supplying these lipids gives the cell the material to repair and maintain membrane integrity, which is what allows the proton gradient to be held.

Membrane Potential™ (215 mg) — running the chain. CoQ10, NADH (as Panmol®) and riboflavin-5-phosphate. NADH delivers electrons into Complex I; CoQ10 accepts them and carries them onward. Riboflavin-5-phosphate is the activated form of vitamin B2, and it matters here because riboflavin becomes FMN and FAD — the prosthetic groups sitting inside Complexes I and II. Without adequate flavins, the first two complexes of the chain cannot function, no matter how much CoQ10 is present.

A note on form: this formula uses ubiquinone rather than ubiquinol, and that is a considered choice rather than a cost one. Ubiquinone is the oxidised form — the form that accepts an electron. Paired with NADH, it is the state the molecule needs to be in to do its job at that point in the chain.

Krebs Plus Foundation™ (225 mg) — feeding the cycle upstream. R-lipoic acid, alpha-ketoglutaric acid, magnesium (as di-magnesium malate) and thiamine. The Krebs cycle is what generates the NADH and FADH₂ that the electron transport chain runs on. Thiamine (as thiamine pyrophosphate) and R-lipoic acid are both cofactors for the same two rate-limiting dehydrogenase complexes — pyruvate dehydrogenase, which admits fuel into the cycle, and alpha-ketoglutarate dehydrogenase, the slowest step within it. Alpha-ketoglutaric acid tops up the cycle as an intermediate in its own right. Magnesium is included for a reason often overlooked: ATP is biologically active as magnesium-ATP. Without magnesium bound to it, ATP cannot be used.

Membrane Restore™ (186 mg) — protecting what you have rebuilt. Vitamin C and DeltaGold® annatto-derived tocotrienols. Ordinary water-soluble antioxidants cannot reach a lipid membrane. Tocotrienols distribute into the lipid phase, where they intercept the chain reaction of lipid peroxidation that damages phospholipids in the first place. Vitamin C works alongside them in the aqueous phase, regenerating spent tocotrienol radicals back to their active form. There is a logic to pairing them: rebuilding a membrane without protecting it simply resets the clock.

Mitogenesis RN™ (210 mg) — making more mitochondria. Acetyl-L-carnitine and PQQ. Carnitine runs the shuttle that carries long-chain fatty acids across the mitochondrial membranes into the matrix, where beta-oxidation can use them — the pathway that supplies most of the energy for heart and resting muscle. PQQ is included for mitochondrial biogenesis: it supports the signalling that prompts a cell to build new mitochondria rather than simply working the existing ones harder. This is the piece that shifts a formula from short-term support to something that may change capacity over months.
