Pure Encapsulations DopaPlus 180 capsules
DopaPlus — comprehensive dopamine support that feeds the whole pathway, not just one step
DopaPlus is a precisely layered formula for healthy dopamine production, focus and motivation. Rather than supplying a single precursor and hoping the body does the rest, it supports three different points in the dopamine pathway at once — the raw material, a step that bypasses the body's main bottleneck, and the cofactors the conversion actually needs. It is built on Pure Encapsulations' hypoallergenic base, with activated nutrient forms throughout.
Per 3 capsules: L-Tyrosine 1,000 mg · Velvet Bean (Mucuna pruriens) seed extract 200 mg (15% L-DOPA) · Rhodiola (Rhodiola rosea) root extract 100 mg (3% rosavins, 1% salidrosides) · Grape seed extract 100 mg (92% polyphenols) · Green Tea extract 100 mg (90% catechins, 70% EGCG) · Vitamin B6 (as pyridoxal-5-phosphate) 6.7 mg · Folate 833 mcg DFE (as Metafolin® L-5-MTHF) · Zinc (picolinate) 10 mg.
How dopamine is actually made — and where DopaPlus acts
Your body builds dopamine in a short chain: the amino acid tyrosine is converted to L-DOPA by an enzyme called tyrosine hydroxylase, and L-DOPA is then converted to dopamine. The first step is the rate-limiting one — tyrosine hydroxylase is tightly regulated and slows itself down when dopamine is plentiful, so simply taking more tyrosine has a ceiling. DopaPlus addresses this in two ways: it provides L-tyrosine as the upstream raw material, and it provides L-DOPA directly from standardised Mucuna pruriens, stepping past the bottleneck enzyme entirely. The final conversion of L-DOPA to dopamine depends on vitamin B6, supplied here in its active pyridoxal-5-phosphate form rather than as plain pyridoxine.
The supporting cast, and why each is there
- Metafolin® (L-5-MTHF) is folate in its active, already-methylated form — it bypasses the MTHFR conversion step that a large share of people perform poorly. Active folate supports the recycling of tetrahydrobiopterin (BH4), the cofactor tyrosine hydroxylase needs to run that first step.
- Rhodiola is an adaptogen traditionally used to support resilience to stress and mental stamina. It helps support a steady neurotransmitter tone, complementing the production side of the formula.
- Grape seed and green tea polyphenols are there for a specific reason: dopamine is chemically prone to oxidation, and these antioxidants help protect catecholamine-producing neurons from oxidative stress.
- Zinc is a cofactor across neurotransmitter metabolism.
Who it may suit
Adults seeking support for healthy dopamine levels, mental drive, focus and a positive, motivated mood — particularly during demanding cognitive periods.
How to take it
3–6 capsules daily in divided doses, between meals, or as directed by your healthcare professional. Because it supports alertness and drive, it is usually best taken earlier in the day.
Precautions
Contains naturally occurring caffeine from green tea extract. Not for use in pregnancy or breastfeeding. If you take antidepressant or Parkinson's medication (including MAO inhibitors or levodopa), blood pressure medication, or have a mood or psychiatric condition, do not use without first consulting your healthcare professional. Always read the label and use only as directed.
