Bio-Practica BerbeZoom — High-Bioavailability Berberine with Berbevis® Phytosome™ Technology

BerbeZoom is an advanced, practitioner-grade berberine formula built around Berbevis® Berberine Phytosome™ — a phospholipid delivery system developed to overcome berberine's notoriously poor absorption. It provides 170.5mg of berberine per capsule in a substantially more bioavailable form, with manganese as a metabolic cofactor, to support healthy glucose and lipid metabolism, metabolic health and digestive function.

Per capsule: Berbevis® Berberine Phytosome™ 550mg (providing berberine 170.5mg, from Berberis aristata equiv. 10g) · manganese 2.5mg · vegan · practitioner-grade.

What is BerbeZoom?

BerbeZoom is a next-generation berberine supplement. Rather than relying on standard berberine hydrochloride — which the body absorbs poorly — it uses Berbevis®, a berberine phytosome, to deliver considerably more berberine into circulation from a lower dose. It is designed for practitioners and patients who want the metabolic and digestive support berberine is known for, without the limitations and tolerability issues of conventional high-dose berberine.

How berberine works — the AMPK pathway

Berberine is a plant alkaloid found in Berberis species such as Indian barberry. Its principal mechanism of interest is the activation of AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) — an enzyme often described as the cell's metabolic "master switch" or energy sensor. When AMPK is activated, the cell shifts toward energy production and improved nutrient handling: glucose uptake and lipid metabolism are supported, and the body's management of carbohydrates and fats is favourably influenced. Berberine also acts within the gastrointestinal tract, where it has a long traditional use and an influence on the gut microbiome. This combination of metabolic and gut activity is why berberine has become one of the most studied botanicals in metabolic health.

The problem with standard berberine

Berberine's usefulness has always been constrained by one issue: it is very poorly absorbed. Two factors are responsible — berberine dissolves and crosses the intestinal wall inefficiently, and what does get absorbed is actively pumped back out of cells by efflux transporters (P-glycoprotein). The consequence is that conventional berberine requires large, frequently divided doses (commonly 1,500mg/day), which can be hard on the digestion and inconvenient to take.

Berbevis® Berberine Phytosome™ — the delivery technology

A phytosome binds the active compound to phospholipids — the same molecules that make up cell membranes — creating a lipid-compatible complex that the gut absorbs far more readily. Berbevis® applies this to berberine, and has been clinically studied to achieve markedly greater bioavailability than standard berberine. In practical terms this means a meaningful, effective berberine intake can be delivered from a single low-dose capsule rather than several large ones — improving both tolerability and compliance.

The role of manganese

Manganese (2.5mg) is an essential trace mineral and a cofactor for enzymes involved in carbohydrate and macronutrient metabolism, as well as for manganese superoxide dismutase, a key mitochondrial antioxidant enzyme. Its inclusion complements berberine's metabolic focus.

Who it may suit

Adults seeking support for healthy glucose and lipid metabolism, metabolic and cardiovascular health, healthy body composition as part of a balanced diet and lifestyle, or digestive and gut-microbiome support — and particularly those who have found high-dose conventional berberine difficult to tolerate.

How to take it

Take as directed by your practitioner. Because of the enhanced bioavailability of the phytosome, a low once-daily dose is designed to replace the multiple large doses required with standard berberine. Best taken with food.

Indicated for

Support of healthy glucose metabolism; support of healthy lipid and cholesterol metabolism; support of metabolic health and healthy body composition alongside diet and exercise; and support of digestive and gastrointestinal health.

Precautions

Not for use during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Berberine can interact with a range of prescription medications — including glucose-lowering, blood-pressure and lipid-lowering medicines and others metabolised by the liver — so anyone taking prescribed medication should consult their practitioner before use. For practitioner dispensing.

Composition
