What is Biome Acne?
Biome Acne is an oral, microbiome-based approach to skin health. Rather than a topical product applied to the skin surface, it is taken by mouth to influence skin presentation through the gut.
How it works — the gut–skin axis
The condition of the skin is influenced by the gut microbiome and its effect on systemic immune and inflammatory signalling — the relationship known as the gut–skin axis. The lead strain, Lactobacillus salivarius LS03, is of particular interest here: in laboratory (in vitro) studies it has been shown to inhibit the growth of Cutibacterium acnes — the bacterium associated with acne — and to dampen relevant inflammatory mediators. It is supported by Lactobacillus casei LC03 and Bifidobacterium breve BR03, studied alongside it for skin-microbiome balance.
Inside the formula
- Lactobacillus salivarius LS03 — 1 billion CFU. The lead strain (gut–skin axis activity).
- Lactobacillus casei LC03 — 0.5 billion and Bifidobacterium breve BR03 — 0.5 billion.
