Pregnancy & Breastfeeding.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding place unique demands on the body — she is, after all, building and then nourishing another person. Certain nutrients become critical inside specific windows, some of which open before conception. Our pregnancy & breastfeeding collection supports each stage with the nutrients that matter most, in forms chosen for safety and absorption. Because safety is paramount here, this is an area to navigate with your healthcare professional.

The nutrients that matter — and their timing

  • Folate — needed to support healthy neural-tube development, which is largely complete by around four weeks — often before a woman knows she's pregnant. That's why it's recommended preconception; activated methylfolate is the body-ready form. See B Vitamins.
  • Choline — folate's under-appreciated partner, also important for neural-tube and brain development, and often low in the diet.
  • Iron — requirements rise substantially to support the mother's expanded blood volume and the baby; gentle, well-absorbed forms are easier on digestion.
  • Iodine — essential for the baby's brain and thyroid development; needs rise in pregnancy and breastfeeding.
  • Omega-3 DHA & vitamin D — DHA is a key structural fat for the developing brain and eyes (laid down heavily in the third trimester).

Who may benefit

Women preparing for conception, those who are pregnant, and breastfeeding mothers — ideally with a practitioner guiding the regimen. See also Women's Health.

Frequently asked questions

When should I start folate? Ideally at least a month before conception and through early pregnancy, when the neural tube forms.
Why activated folate? It's the body-ready form and doesn't require the conversion step some women perform less efficiently.
Are all supplements safe in pregnancy? No — some nutrients (notably high-dose vitamin A) and many herbs are not recommended. Always check with your healthcare professional before taking anything while pregnant or breastfeeding.
