Opti Active D & K2 pairs a pre-activated form of vitamin D with the form of vitamin K2 that directs calcium where it belongs, formulated to support bone mineralisation, cardiovascular health and muscle function.
Per capsule: calcifediol (active vitamin D) 10mcg · vitamin K2 as MenaQ7® MK-7 · flaxseed oil base · one capsule daily · practitioner-grade.
What is Opti Active D & K2?
It is a bone-and-artery formula that improves on a standard vitamin D supplement in two ways: it uses a more bioavailable form of vitamin D, and it adds the vitamin K2 that ensures the calcium D helps you absorb is deposited correctly.
How it works — two upgrades
The D: rather than standard colecalciferol (D3), this uses calcifediol — 25-hydroxyvitamin D, the form produced after the first liver activation step that D3 must undergo. Because that step is already done, calcifediol has roughly three times the bioavailability per microgram and raises vitamin D status faster. The K2: vitamin D increases calcium absorption but does not control its distribution. Vitamin K2 activates the proteins (osteocalcin and matrix Gla protein) that direct calcium into bone and away from arteries and soft tissue. The long-acting MenaQ7® MK-7 form is used here. Together they address both absorption and distribution — D without K2 does only half the job.
Who it may suit
Anyone with limited sun exposure or going through winter; those focused on bone density, particularly over 50; indoor workers; people with darker skin; and anyone whose blood test has returned low.
How to take it
One capsule daily with a meal containing fat (both vitamins are fat-soluble), or as directed by your practitioner.
Complementary nutrients
Magnesium is required to convert vitamin D to its active form and is a key partner — low magnesium is a common reason vitamin D "doesn't seem to work." Adequate dietary calcium completes the bone-health requirement.
Indicated for
Maintenance of bone density and strength; vitamin D insufficiency and limited sun exposure; immune and muscle support; and cardiovascular health.
